Tortie's Quilt - Update

Since I had some vacation time from work (and because I was officially one year overdue on giving Tortie her gift), I spent a few hours this weekend on her quilt. It was amazing how quickly it went together once I'd decided exactly how I was arranging the squares.

After sewing the first row of blocks together, I soon realized I had made the pattern WAY TOO BIG. Yes, all those years of math really DIDN'T pay off! I ended up removing a square from each end. Now, it's an overly large king quilt. I think it'll shrink up some once I was it - all the squares are 100% cotton.

Now, I've gotta start the fraying. This is the hard part as Amelia is fascinated by scissors and I must ensure she's not around when I'm fraying - if she is around, she tries pouncing on the scissors.

The best part of all of this - I have extra blocks. So, I keep posing Miss Mia with them and sending them to Tortie. She thinks I'm still cutting blocks for the quilt! HEHEHE. I cannot wait to surprise her!

Six Years!

A Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake. 'Nuff said.

Miss Mia is learning to balance now. Unfortunately, she doesn't make the best choices for what she uses to pull herself up to balance on. She's pulled over the vacuum, shoved her chair across the floor, realized the dog will hold her, but the cat will make her tumble . . .

On my first day of vacation, Miss Mia discovered that a metal file holder is NOT an object to use for her balancing act.

She only cried for a minute. The scrape didn't bleed and didn't bruise. Thank goodness!

Me Time

Last Friday was my doctor's appointment - the first since I went back on my meds. After weeks of killer workouts and watching what I eat, I had to go to the doc's and let her know that I was unsuccessful in losing a single pound.

She looked over my chart and saw that my levels were still high, even on the meds. Added to the weight loss issues, she decided that I needed my meds increased. So, I'm now on 1500 a day - and the pills are huge! They're a full meal in and of themselves!

Let's hope these meds will kick start my body on it's track back to normal. I hate the migraines and total fatigue. I want to be a good Mommy to Mia, and that can't happen if I'm in bed with a migraine.
