Finished Baby Quilt

I was showing Miss Mia the blog this morning and realized there were no finished pictures of the baby quilt we made for our friend!

Here is one . . . sorry the pics aren't as good as normal.  My favorite squares are the blue clouds with yellow stars and pink hearts. 

The friend said this quilt was THE gift at the shower!

YAH!

She also said her hubby tried talking her out of giving it away because it was so soft and cuddly!

Baby Quilt Preview

The front and back of a burp cloth made from same flannel as the quilt I'm currently making.

My friend has requested a baby quilt for a baby girl who will be making her debut in January.  Although the burp cloth is all girly, I'm only doing some pink.  The flannel is so soft and so warm.  I am loving it . . . but I'll be good and let her have it.

Miss Mia went right to sleep tonight. So, I had free time. Instead of cleaning my waaaaay trashed house, I played around a little. I wrapped a pretty ribbon around the baby gift set. I'll be taking it to work tomorrow. I'm not giving it to my TL 'til Friday, but I know how easily I forget stuff . . . .

And . . . . I love the new quilt I'm working on. All I'm doing is using up the scraps from Tortie's wedding quilt. I'm not worrying about how many strips are in a square. I just know each square will be an 8.5 block. I've still quite a few of the full squares from her quilt. I keep thinking I might toss in one or two randomly, to keep it interesting.

Quiltin'

The weather was absolutely wonderful this weekend. At the same time, I was still able to get a good start on Miss Mia's quilt. All of her squares are cut - and I have the first four rows quilted. I am so excited!

Here we go again!

I've been able to get Miss Mia to bed at a somewhat normal time lately. Due to this, I've been able to get caught up on some things around the house. It appears the quilt I was planning on having ready for her birth . . . well, we may be able to use it in first birthday pictures!

The photos say it all! I spent the weekend just after my anniversary working on finishing up Tortie's quilt.

I continued with the misleading emails to her - only showing pics of Miss Mia with the extra squares that didn't make it into the final quilt.

This past Friday, we had pizza night. I made homemade pizzas, and invited Courtney and Dave over. I didn't tell them I had a surprise.

While they were sitting on the love seat (oh, newlyweds, how cute!!!), I gave them a blankie to snuggle under . . . Courtney looked at the quilt and then at me, "Some one's been lying to me!" She exclaimed.

From the smiles on their face, I think I can safely say, the quilt was a well received (if very late) wedding gift for the two-some.

Sick gal I am - I went out that same Friday and found a new pattern I'm itching to start on!

Tortie's Quilt - Update

Since I had some vacation time from work (and because I was officially one year overdue on giving Tortie her gift), I spent a few hours this weekend on her quilt. It was amazing how quickly it went together once I'd decided exactly how I was arranging the squares.

After sewing the first row of blocks together, I soon realized I had made the pattern WAY TOO BIG. Yes, all those years of math really DIDN'T pay off! I ended up removing a square from each end. Now, it's an overly large king quilt. I think it'll shrink up some once I was it - all the squares are 100% cotton.

Now, I've gotta start the fraying. This is the hard part as Amelia is fascinated by scissors and I must ensure she's not around when I'm fraying - if she is around, she tries pouncing on the scissors.

The best part of all of this - I have extra blocks. So, I keep posing Miss Mia with them and sending them to Tortie. She thinks I'm still cutting blocks for the quilt! HEHEHE. I cannot wait to surprise her!

Quilting

Yep, we worked on Aunt Tortie's Quilt for awhile. Miss Mia was trying to decide what type pattern to use. Should it be random? Should we make a Star? Stripes? Decisions. Decisions.
